Forest Partners
The new documentary Forest Partners highlights an often unseen side of forests – the economic ecosystems thriving between public and private organizations and local communities. The film demonstrates solutions that combine technology and traditional knowledge to protect tropical forests, with shared benefits. Forest Partners showcases successful projects in sustainable production systems, capturing voices on the frontline in forest economies from Borneo and Brazil to Colombia, Ghana and Peru. The film profiles initiatives that show it is possible to secure social, environmental and economic benefits by preserving or restoring forest landscapes. Linking each of the projects is the support they have received from Partnerships for Forests, a sustainable business incubator and accelerator funded by the government of the United Kingdom. Partnerships for Forests works across 15 countries, developing partnerships between the private sector, the public sector and the communities that live and work in and around forests. Since 2016, Partnerships for Forests has brought nearly a quarter of a billion hectares of land under sustainable management, with more than £263 million invested by the private sector into forests.
